Details

Considered groundbreaking when first published in 1985, John Gossage's The Pond remains one of the most important photobooks of the medium. Consisting of photographs taken around and away from a pond situated in an unkempt wooded area at the edge of a city, the images in The Pond do not aspire to the beauty of classical landscape, instead revealing a subtle vision of reality on the border between humankind and nature.

Aperture is pleased to offer The Pond in a limited-edition box set comprised of a special edition of the book featuring a tipped-on gelatin-silver print made by the artist and a stand-alone gelatin-silver print also made by Gossage. This special edition is limited to twenty-five signed and numbered copies.
