Details

With the onset of the Spanish American War, William van der Weyde began his career in photography, going on to complete 15 years of magazine work. His photographs were published in numerous respectable magazines with considerable readerships, such as Success, McClure's, Literary Digest, and the Reader.

Van der Weyde's archive at the George Eastman House in Rochester, New York, includes over 1500 images made from 6x9 glass negatives spanning a wide range of subject matter—from portraits of American writers, poets, and academics, to American battleships and sports figures.

Aperture is pleased to offer van der Weyde's rare and enduring work for sale. Through his photographs of a bygone era, we marvel at all that has changed and all that remains the same. Both humorous and of the utmost candor, Dog Training is an irreplaceable addition to your collection.
