Two new and diverse photography exhibitions open at Aperture Gallery on October 22, when photographs spanning 12 genres by the winners and finalists of the 2009/10 Sony World Photography Awards are exhibited alongside those of the Sony Artisans of Imagery, six professional photographers who have been shooting their editorial, advertising, and personal projects with the Sony a900 (alpha) camera over the past year.

The Sony World Photography Awards presents its Global Tour, a curated exhibition of winning images, chosen from 139 countries, spanning photojournalism, commercial, and fine art genres. Brought together by leading curator Zelda Cheatle, the photographs have been selected by the honorary judging committee, which is comprised of leading figures from the international photographic community: Sue Steward (critic), Jürgen Schadeberg (photographer), Adrian Evans (Director Panos Pictures), Bruce Davidson (photographer), Mark George (Mark George Agency), Arnaud Adida (Director A. Galerie), Gered Mankowitz (photographer), Grazia Neri (Grazia Neri Agency), Zelda Cheatle (portfolio manager), Mary Ellen Mark (photographer), Sarah Moon (photographer), Philippe Garner (Head of Photography, Christie's).
